Marcia Mahoney

Marcia Mahoney is an interdisciplinary artist whose work investigates the intersection of human experience and structure. Using screen prints, paint, photographs, film, sculpture, books and words she probes the paradoxes and complexity of female identity. Inspired by Fluxus artists and phenomenological philosophers, Mahoney’s work is experiential, interactive and tactile. She uses found objects, scale, surprise and humor to subvert viewer expectation and push for an authentic experience. Mahoney recently earned a Master of Fine Arts from Maine Media College. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Communication from Northwestern University and Juris Doctor degree from Washington University in Saint Louis. She is a board member of the Rivers Institute for Art and Contemporary Thought and was a long-time treasurer and board member of Filter Photo. Mahoney has exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States, most recently at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon and Masur Museum in Monroe, Louisiana. You can find her at Camp Street Studios in New Orleans and the Cornelia Arts Building in Chicago.
